Commission on Native Hawaiian Ministries (CONHM)

This commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai‘i works to build Native Hawaiian Christian leadership. Specifically, their purposes are “to train leaders of native Hawaiian ancestry and to be a focus for opportunities to minister to communities of Hawaiians in all congregations. CONHM works to bridge the gap between the native Hawaiian language and culture and the dominant Western language and culture to facilitate the acceptance, understanding, and proper implementation of the former. In addition, through meetings, conferences, shared ministries and other exchanges with the Anglican Indigenous Network (AIN), the Episcopal Council on Indigenous Ministries (ECIM), and the Indigenous Theological Training Institute (ITTI), this Commission maintains close contact with other indigenous peoples and their faith communities throughout the United States and other parts of the world. CONHM also offers various opportunities for education and mission.”

Anglican Indigenous Network (AIN)

The Anglican Indigenous Network is one of the networks of the worldwide Anglican Communion, who work to promote Indigenous leadership in the Anglican Church and to contribute Indigenous gifts and perspectives.

The AIN Mission Statement:

  • We are indigenous minority peoples living in our own lands.
  • We are committed to the Anglican tradition while affirming our traditional spirituality.
  • We have discovered that we have many things in common: a common spirituality, common concerns, common gifts, common hopes.
  • We believe that God is leading the Church to a turning point in its history and that the full partnership of indigenous peoples is essential. Therefore we pledge to work together to exercise our leadership in contributing our vision and gifts to transform the life of the Christian community.
